Ramwong (2020/2024), Thailand
"Ramwong" is a side project under SurrealLand, which explores Thai society through its contemporary cultural expression. Inspired by local music and songs, this photography series reveals layered aspects of Thai culture with a focus on the Ramwong dance — a traditional folk dance that has evolved over time and remains popular for bringing joy to various festivals. The photographs are manipulated to enhance colours, mimicking the vibrant stage lights of Ramwong, to create an experience that transcends reality, as if attempting to obscure and layer certain truths that may not align with societal ideals.
